ringing the most innovative technology to date, in partnership with JSL Video Productions, the 32 tournament games and awards ceremony of the 2011 Cooper Invitational Tournament will be broadcast live on the web in full audio and video. The Cooper Invitational is the first Jewish high school athletic event in the country to provide this type of coverage further ensuring that fans, near and far, can participate in all the action.
Ira Lipsey, a native Memphian, and 1989 graduate of the Memphis Hebrew Academy, will be broadcasting his third consecutive Cooper Invitational this year. He is the former host of “The ‘I’ on Sports”, the number 1 rated Sunday morning sports talk show in the greater Memphis area. Ira was also a finalist for the public address announcer job with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. In addition to his broadcasting prowess, Ira plays recreational basketball at the Jewish Community Center, and has served a head coach for several youth teams in Memphis.
Stuart is a lifelong Memphian and a 1979 Graduate of the Cooper Yeshiva High School (formerly known as the Yeshiva of the South). Playing many sports throughout his High School; College and Post-College career, basketball is by far his passion. Stuart played high school basketball in Memphis and competitive collegiate intramural basketball at the University of Memphis. Stuart has coached at the high school level and served as a coach of the 2002 and 2004 Maccabi basketball teams.
Josh "JT" Thomas is a near-graduate of the Cooper Yeshiva (then the Yeshiva of the South), having matriculated to Yeshiva University on an "early-admission" basis after his junior year of high school. Josh was a 3-year starter on the YOS Lions hoops squad which participated in some of the earliest invitational yeshiva basketball tournaments in cities like Washington and Boston. After YU, Josh attended law school in Chicago, and after brief stints in Silicon Valley and Riverdale in the Bronx, he returned to his Memphis roots with his wife Dusten and son Noah. Recently, Josh left the practice of law to pursue a career in education in the Tennessee public school system. As someone who works with youth on a daily basis, Josh is extremely excited to be a part of the Cooper Invitational in his capacity as a broadcaster and looks forward to bringing the action home to fans, families and friends of all the student-athletes during this fantastic event.
