Shaare Torah STARS outshine de Toledo JAGUARS 79-56

The final Tier I game of day 2 featured #3 De Toledo Jaguars and the #6 Shaarei Torah Stars. This was a very high scoring, evenly matched game. The lead went back and forth for most of the first quarter as there was a lot of offense and not a lot of defense for either team. For the STARS, the Swaid brothers, Freddy and Eddie, made their presence heavily felt right from the start. The Jaguars’ Aidan Waldman knocked down a three in the corner and got fouled which he converted into a 4-point play. He led his team to a 2 point lead at the end of the first.

The Stars started the second quarter on fire, going on a 6-0 run. The Jaguars kept it neck-and-neck with their three-point shooting ability. Everything was back and forth, and then Jackie Haber for the Stars took over. He hit a couple of threes and some contested layups and gave his team an 8 point lead. By the end of the half, the Stars led 45-36.

The Stars were the underdogs in this game, but they entered the 3rd quarter showing everyone that they have waht it takes to win the whole thing. The Stars were able to maintain a ten point lead for the majority of the game. The game was a display of each team’s three point shooting skills. The Stars continued to extend their lead, and Freddy Swaid and Jackie Haber continued to dominate. They stepped up their defense in the quarter and ended it with a 21 point lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars suffered a devastating loss as Jordan Leshem exited the game with a knee injury. Jonah Dobkin desperately tried to bring his team back into the game, but it was too late. Ariel Hayim finished the Jaguars off with a big three late in the fourth. The Stars’ Jackie Haber and Freddy Swaid played most of the game, but the coach finally gave them a well-deserved rest with three minutes left in the game. They combined for 55 points and led their team to a 79-56 win.

The high scorer for the Stars was Freddy Swaid with 30 points. The high scorer for the Jaguars was Aidan Waldman and Jonah Dobkin, each scoring 14. The Stars advance in the Tier I bracket and have a tough matchup coming up against the TABC Storm as the Jaguars will play in the Tier I consolation bracket.
