It is the second day of the Cooper Invitational and the opening game pits the AHA Eagles against the NCJHS Jaguars. Yesterday, these two teams lost their first games and fell into Tier 2, but that doesn’t mean that it’s over, they can still fight to win Tier 2.

The Jaguars established a comfortable 14 point lead early. Putting full court press on the AHA Eagles, they were able to steal the ball and get some very valuable layups. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 22-9 in favor of the Jaguars.

In the second quarter, the Jaguars showed no signs of slowing down. Using the same plan they used against Cooper, they kept up the full court press. Towards the end of the half both teams had a bonus. With 2 minutes left on the clock, the score was 39-14 with the Jaguars still dominating the game. It is clear the Jaguars deserve their seeding as a top ten team in the Tier 2 tournament, because of the way they can move the ball, their defense, their press, and their three point shooting. By the end of the 1st half, the score was 40- 17 in favor of the Jaguars.

In the third quarter, the game pretty much continued the way it had in the first quarter. The Jaguars were dominating with their impressive full court press and three point shooting. The score at the end of the quarter was 49-27 with the Jaguars still keeping the lead. Number 11, Edan Evenhaim was the only player in the game with three fouls and that really shows some self-control from a team that last night had fouled a lot.

The Jaguars finished the AHA Eagles off in the fourth quarter. From the first quarter it was obvious which team was better and would probably win the game. With 4 minutes left in the game, the Eagles ran out of time outs and the Jaguars were still pouring on the excellent defense they had shown through both games in the tournament. The final score was 64-33 Jaguars. The leading scorers were Micah Getzug of the Jaguars with 20 points and Daniel Sasson for the Eagles with 18 points.
