10-28-2010 | Hurricanes fend off Jaguars, Advance to Second Round

With both teams looking a bit dreary, the game got off to a sluggish start, with Hillel having a slight lead 9-5. However, with onset of the second quarter, Kevin Salinas of Hillel emerged as a strong player in the tournament. Although both the Hillel Hurricanes and the MAYHS Jaguars continued to battle it out through the second and third quarters, the Jaguars entered the fourth quarter with an 11 point deficit.

With the Jaguars needing a quick comeback, the Hurricanes proved to be a bit too much for the Jaguars, limiting them to only 4 points to close the game out. The Hurricanes now advance to the second round in Tier 1, facing the winner of the #5 Fasman Yeshiva / #12 Cooper Yeshiva High School game. The Jaguars, after having been caged by the Hurricanes look to rebound tomorrow in Tier 2.
