The much anticipated 7 vs. 10 matchup featured the New Community Jewish High School Jaguars against the Flatbush Falcons. The tip went to Flatbush right away and they drained a two. However the Jaguars answered immediately with a three. Later, Joey Dayon of Flatbush drove to the basket and had an amazing three point play. Flatbush continued to push the ball into the paint, and after stealing the ball, Michael Haddad made the easy layup. A few minutes later, the Jaguars got two consecutive steals and baskets off of them, giving them the lead by four points. Joey Dayon has come into this game dominating on all levels. Both teams battled and fought with the lead constantly going back and forth. Both teams were showing a ‘grit and grind’ mentality.

As the second quarter got under way, neither team was able to score for the first minutes. Then Haddad got a second fast-break layup putting the Flacons up by three. Joey then brought the lead up to four by making a drive to the basket look easy and by casually laying it up. The Jaguars answered back by scoring two free throws and a shot to make the game a three-point game. Edan Evenhaim, having a great game , scored an acrobatic fast-break layup, which went off the high glass. At halftime, the score was 25-23 in favor of Flatbush.

The third quarter got started with the Jaguars starting with the ball. Evan came into the game and scored a three, but then Haddad answered with one of his own. The Jaguars came back into the game with a new found urgency playing well on all levels, but a few turnovers let Flatbush creep back in and get ahead by six. Evan cut the lead to four by getting a fast-break layup. Then, Evan cut the lead to 1. The uneventful third quarter kept the score pretty close with Flatbush in the lead 35-34. However, neither team was really able to score in the last few minutes of the quarter which kept the game close.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Noah Emanual immediately scored a much earned floater. Then Flatbush got fouled twice. For the second foul, Joey was unable to finish and missed both of the free-throws. The Jaguars managed to get up by two, but then Flatbush came back to tie it up. Later, Haddad dropped a three to get up by one. With the score 46-43 in favor of Flatbush, Evanhaim scored a fast break layup to pull the Jaguars to within one. Joey then hit a clutch free-throw to put Flatbush up by two. Daniel Ozer-Ross then made a clutch shot from within the paint and got fouled. This tied the game with just 49 seconds left. Unfortunately, he missed the much needed free-throw. After getting fouled again, Evan made two free-throws with 18 seconds remaining. Flatbush gave it their all with a last second three point shot, but it came up short and the Jaguars slipped past the Falcons with a final of 49 to 47. Edan Evenhaim led the Jaguars with 18 points and Flatbush was led by Michael Haddad with 13 points.
