The early game on Friday was an enticing matchup between NSHA Stars and the RASG Warriors. The Stars came into the game hungry for a win after being upset by the hometown favorite – 13th ranked Cooper Yeshiva – the night before. And their urge for a win showed; the Stars jumped out to an early 14-5 lead over Miami by the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Hemation from Northshore came alive scoring 8 points after a quiet first half, and Northshore took a dominating 29-9 lead by halftime. In the first half, Northshore really showed their strength on offense against a zone defense, rather than man-to-man, which they struggled with the night before against Cooper Yeshiva.

Miami looked like a new team in the second half, kicking off the half with a 23-11 run, led by scoring contributions from Schechter and Abramowitz and including a huge momentum shfiting corner 3-pointer by Schechter. By the end of the third quarter Miami had cut the deficit significantly and were only down by nine points heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Miami made some excellent plays on offense. However, they couldn’t seem to chip away at the lead and Northshore was also excellent on the offensive end, led by Zborowski’s 10 point surge in the quarter. Angers began to flair from the Miami bench towards the end of the quarter, as their coach picked up a technical foul in frustration. In the end, the Warriors were not able to capitalize on their excellent third quarter, and when the final whistle was blown, Northshore walked out of the gym with a mighty 63-47 victory over Miami. The game’s leading scorers were Zborowski of Northshore with twetny points and Schechter and Abramowitz of Miami had sixteen points apiece.
