In a Thursday afternoon matchup, the #7 Flatbush Falcons took on the #10 Hillel Lions. In the 1st quarter, Hillel won the tip to start off the game. It remained a very close game throughout the quarter. Albert Richter started off strong for Flatbush, and Jacky Kleinbaum was big for Hillel. Flatbush only led by a few points, but with good ball movement it was able to get to the line. Hillel trailed close behind feeding Jacky Kleinbaum down low.

In the 2nd quarter, the Hillel Lions played exceptionally well, pulling ahead of the Falcons. Kleinbaum got some easy buckets as well as some key foul shots. However, Albert Richter and Elliot Beyda were huge for Flatbush, as they finished the half up by a score of 26-17. The leading scorers of the half were Jacky Klainbaum with 13 points, Elliot Beyda with 7 points, and Albert Richter with 6 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, sloppy plays by Hillel led to a big lead by Flatbush. Louis Zarif and Abie Rosow added some buckets for the Falcons, giving the team a big lift. A lot of fouls on Hillel led to a number of fouls shots for Flatbush and they converted on their opportunities at the charity stripe. Flatbush got the lead to 18 with two minutes to go in the quarter, off of fast breaks and easy layups. Kleinbaum still played well, but it wasn’t enough, as the quarter ended 42-25.

In the 4th Quarter, the Falcons kept their lead and continued playing well. They continued to score off of layups. While Hillel hit several foul shots, it wasn’t enough to give them the boost they needed. Zarif and Kevin Hadad both played well in the quarter, and overall everyone contributed with a layup or two. Flatbush continued to get to the line, knocking down foul shots. Hillel did hit a few shots cutting the lead to 15 with a minute and a half to go, but the lead was too much to overcome for the Lions. The Falcons won by a final score of 57-44. Jacky Kleinbaum finished with 17 points for Hiillel, and Kevin Hadad had 9 points for the Flatbush Falcons.

The Falcons will continue on in Tier 1 and will face the YULA Panthers on Friday, while the Hillel Lions will move into Tier 2.
