11-8-2015 | YULA Panthers Take Down Warriors, 68-48 Claim Third Place in Cooper Invitational

In a Sunday afternoon Tier 1 matchup, the #2 YULA Panthers went up against the #4 RASG Warriors in a battle for 3rd place. In the first quarter it was a close game throughout, and YULA only led by a small margin. Both teams pushed the ball and got good looks. Solomane Rosenthal was the leading scorer for RASG with 8 points.

In the 2nd quarter, YULA took control. They turned their small lead into a big one, with Daniel Hami and Alan Gindi contributing greatly. YULA’s fast paced game kept them up by a lot in the quarter, with players like Shimon Benarroch stepping up. Leading scorers at the half were Rosenthal with 8 points, and Hami with 11 points.

In the 3rd quarter, Jack Esformes caught fire, giving RASG a boost. YULA still held onto their lead and were up by about 20 throughout. Even with Esformes shooting really well, everyone on YULA contributing allowed them to stay way ahead. The quarter ended 56-32, with YULA in the lead.

In the 4th quarter, RASG got to the line, but YULA kept on scoring. RASG did step up their defense, but YULA had very comfortable lead that the Warriors couldn’t catch up to. The Panthers held onto their lead, winning the game 68-48. The leading scorer for YULA was Alan Gindi with 17 points, and for RASG it was Esformes with 19 points.
