After suffering the only first round upset at the Cooper Invitational on Thursday, which resulted in a heart breaking loss to #9 seed Derech Hatorah, Toronto’s Or Chaim Knights needed nothing short of a win to preserve their reputation as a contending team in the Cooper Yeshiva tournament. The #15 seed, the Block Yeshiva Blockbusters who were crushed on Thursday by the YULA Panthers, were simply looking for a win in order to boost their spirits.

In the first half, Or Chaim raced to a big lead of over 40 points, and Block never recovered as the Knights stealthily stopped their offensive scheme with everything they tried. Although the game was more competitive, unfortunately the result was the same for Block Yeshiva as the Or Chaim Knights defeated Block 89-24. To make matters worse, for the Blockbusters, early in the second quarter their star player, Yair Eckhardt, went down hard clutching his leg. After returning with a cast on one leg, he competed in the 3-point shootout on one leg and still managed to sink 7 treys. We wish him a hearty Refuah Sheleimah and hope to see him back on the court soon.

At this point in time, Or Chaim has their ambitious eyes solely set on winning Tier 2 while a very disgruntled Block team hopes to find a win after their unfortunate 0-2 start.
