The Tier 2 #1 seed Yeshiva of Flatbush Falcons took on the Tier 2 #8 seed Weinbaum Yeshiva Storm in a first round matchup on Friday morning. The score was close throughout the first quarter. Weinbaum was very physical, committing 7 team fouls in the first quarter. The Falcons had the lead until Ethan Lasko of Weinbaum hit a three-pointer to give the Storm the lead by one. The score at the end of the first quarter was 10-9, in favor of the Storm.

Although the lead in the 2nd quarter went back and forth, the Storm and Falcons could not pull away from the other and Weinbaum took a one point into halftime. There was a lot of scoring in the paint for Weinbaum, and some three-pointers from Flatbush. Point guard Ari Clements finished the half with six points for Weinbaum.

In the 3rd quarter, the Falcons started to fly away with a 6-0 run, sparked by a tough lay-in by Joey Dayon. Dayon, who struggled to score initially, caught fire and scored 7 points in the quarter. A three-pointer by Dayon extended the Falcons’ lead to 11. The score at the end of the quarter was 39-29, in favor of Flatbush.

The Falcons carried their momentum into the 4th quarter, hitting two 3-pointers to extend their lead to 17 points. Weinbaum later countered with a nice 7-2 run, but it came too late. The Falcons ran over Weinbaum, winning 61-41. The high-scorer for Weinbaum was Bryant Feintuch, who had 8 points. The high-scorer for Flatbush was Joey Dayon, who had 14 on the game.
